Runners Envy

Running the last few months has been really hard. I have gone out on runs, but the entire time it was a mental battle, I simply was not into it. I would run because I needed exercise, but mentally I was counting down the seconds until I could stop.
For some reason, I have had no desire to run since the last marathon I did back in November. Running had lost its place for me, and I was not sure what to make of that. I have always run, and I have always enjoyed it for the most part. It was perplexing to me for a long time.
However, something changed in me last week. I have had a lot to do in the afternoons and I knew that there were some days I was not going to get a chance to work out. As I was driving home from work the other afternoon I saw some people out running, and I became really envious. I was jealous that they were out running and I was not! It stirred something in me to go out and run. So I did. I didn't have much time before dark (and living by myself, I try not to go out past dark) so I ran a quick 2 miles and it felt awesome.
Yesterday I got up early and ran for an hour, and I enjoyed every second of it!!
It is like rediscovering an old friend that I have been missing for a really long time.

The Best Show on T.V.

The Real Housewives of Uvalde, TX? Nope

Pregnant at 85? Nope

Surviving on this random island? Nope

BEST SHOW ON T.V. Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

Want to see a grown man dressed as a tomato talking to parents dropping off their kids at school? Watch this show.

Want to see a grown man passionate about food, and feeding kids well? Watch this show.

Want to see a grown man take on the establishment? Watch this show.

Want to be motivated to eat whole delicious foods? Watch this show.

Jamie Oliver is amazing on this show. I cannot get enough of it. He is trying to get into the LA school system and change the food offerings to the kids of the city, and the school board has locked him out. He turns to some guerrilla style campaigning and it is awesome!!!

I can't wait to find out if he can transform the school.

The show is on ABC but you can also find it on HULU.

Check it out.

Rain

It rained, finally. We have been in a severe drought. The last time it rained here was back in November. We have been praying and hoping for rain for months. With all the wild fires and the heat, we have been is desperate need of rain. We need it to rain every day for about 3 weeks in order to get caught up. We are in water restrictions and rationing already. The aquifer is low, low, low.

Last Thursday, about 9 a.m. the sky darkened, it was literally pitch black, and the sky opened up and it rained, hailed, thundered, and lightning(is that a word???) for about an hour. It slowed down, and a soft rain fell for the rest of the day.

Coming from someone who loves sunshine, I know how bad we need the rain, but we praise God for what He gave us.

The perfect pair

My main man these days while my husband is out of town. He is awesome! He is my perfect dog. He plays, he sleeps in my bed, and keeps me company when no one is around.

The best thing about him--he loves to run!!

He is the perfect running partner for me.

He never gets tired.

He is faster than me.

He never makes me feel bad about skipping a run(as if he could???).

He is always happy to run.

He understands when I need to run more than once a day.

He is just happy to be on the leash.Pretty much- he is the perfect running partner for me!

My needs

I had a tough week last week. There were some tough days, some tears, some sadness. In less than a month, we are moving, and I will finally be living in the same town as my husband. Last week was hard. I was missing P a lot, and I knew we were not going to see each other this weekend. I felt really sad and alone all last week, all I wanted was family time. This 6 month work seperation has begun to take its toll on me. I have no idea how military families do it, and I have even more respect for them now, than I ever have.

But, I had the 2nd best thing happen this weekend--my parents came in town. They got here Friday afternoon, and they hung out at the house until I got home, around 11 p.m. I had event Friday night, and it ended really late.

We had a great weekend. We ate good food, celebrated my mom's birthday on Saturday, and mothers day today! We shopped a little, watched movies, played in the river, and ran some errands. Besides P, it was just what the doctor ordered for me. I feel better, refreshed, and ready to go another week until P comes home this weekend.
