Friday Confessions

Here are my weekly confessions:

1.When I have to spell the word banana, I sing the Gwen Stefani song to myself to make sure I spelled it correctly.

2. I rapped Ice Ice Baby in my office this week.

3. My dog is sick and wont drink, so I have been pouring water down his mouth forcefully. I am basically water boarding him.

4. My dog is sick and wont take his meds, so I put it in his mouth, grip his snout and blow in his nose.....I am basically making out with him twice daily.

5. My dog is sick and wont eat much, so we are inspecting his fecal matter every time he goes to the bathroom.

6. I ate a piece of chocolate cake this week. I threw the plate in my trash can at my desk. I then realized there was still icing on the cake. I pulled it out of the trash can and licked off the icing.

Coldplay





On Friday night P and I went to see the opening concert for Coldplay's new tour. I bought the tickets back in February for P's birthday, and I really stretched and totally went over budget for it, but it was so worth it.
It was one of the best night outs that we have ever had. We got to the arena, got a few drinks, and walked around for a bit. We had about 30 minutes to kill so we ended up sitting down at a pretty swanky all buffet in the arena and it was way over priced, but still really fun. The concert started right at 7 with Wolf Gang opening up, and followed by Robyn. She was really Europop, and kinda funky, but totally entertaining.

At 9:07, the lights dimmed and Coldplay rushed the stage, and rocked it with a killer concert. For two hours they played their buns off, and when the show ended, I looked at my watch and could not believe they played for two hours straight. It was hands down the greatest concert that I have ever been to, and I highly recommend seeing them if you have a chance.

Puzzle Pieces

I hate puzzles. Mostly because I am really bad at them. I can get the edges, but after that, I am a train wreck. There are just too many pieces and they are not in any order, and the goal is to get them in order, but really how can you because they each have four sides, they all look the same, and seeing all the pieces on the table out of the box makes me want to slap someone.
Lucky for me, I don't have to do the puzzle today, you do.


I know its been all quiet on the Western Front over here, but put these pieces together and you will be able to figure out why.

Goal time

Now that marathon season is over, I am finding that I need a new goal. These past few months without a goal I have found myself floundering when it comes to my running. My runs have been slower, shorter, and a bunch of junk miles. Nothing great, nothing to hard, and rarely pushing myself. Times need to change my friends.

One of my goals for this year is to PR in a 5K. I PR'ed in the half marathon distance earlier this year, and now I am ready to go for my speed goal. My goal into run a 5K later this summer in 23:00 or under. That will put me a little over a 7:30 mile, but I know that if I work hard I can do it. To be honest, this distance really scares me. I can run for miles at a nice and slow clip, and I am fine. I can do sprints all day long. As long as I can see the finish line and get a breather for a few seconds, I am good. This 5K distance is fun, but I am really wanting to put pressure on myself to PR. If I am being honest, I really want to finish in 21:00 minutes, but I am not sure if I can get to that pace this summer. But, I am going to bust my hump and try.

I am going to use Hal Higdon's advanced 5k training plan. That means lots of speed work, and lots of pain. It has one long run a week, but only one. This plan kind of scares me because I am worried about losing my fitness that comes with high mileage. I know it will be a major pain in the rump to get it back, but I know that establishing a faster base, it will benefit me in the long run to get a sub 4 hour marathon. Aww gripes, yes I just declared that there will be another marathon either late this year or early next year.

Body attack

A few Friday's ago, I hit up the gym after work. I didn't want to run because I was doing a long run on Saturday, so I started out on the elliptical, and after about 3 minutes I was bored out of my mind. I decided to try a class that was about to start called Body Attack, because I wanted to get my heart rate up and have so e fun in the process.

The class description was a bit vague, but I decided to try it out anyways. This was a big step for me because I am pretty hesitant to try new things and hardly every try new experiences by myself.

The class was a mix of 90's style exercises, (think lots of bouncing side to side, high knees, butt kicks) but my heart rate was wayyyyyy up, and I was sweating like a beast. There were some choreographed moves that I could not keep up with, and during the early part of the class I held back and told myself I looked so dumb, and felt like a douche. Yes, I know that's a horrible word but I felt so dumb and considered walking out. But, I decided to give the class a few more minutes and keep trying. As I looked around everyone else was having a great time bouncing, hopping, throwing there hands in the air and I was in the back with a sour face.

At that moment I decided to let go of my inhibitions and just have fun with it, even if I screwed up. The next thing I know, I am drenched in sweat, panting, and having a ball. It was an hour that took me out of my comfort zone, and away from my usual workouts. It was awesome!

Taking this class was a big stretch for me, and it has been great. I have gonea few more times, and after each class, I am exhausted, sweaty, and happy!

The Make Up Question


I have a question for all of you chicka's. Do you wear make up on a daily basis?
The reason that I ask is because I truly don't know. I wear make up to work, and that is pretty much the only time I wear it, unless we have a big event on the weekend.
The make up that I wear is pretty minimal. I use bare minerals and I only know how to do the basics. I don't line my eyes, or lips (do people still do that)? I wear bronzer and probably more blush than any respectable woman should in the day time. What can I say, I like really rosy cheeks. I also wear to much bronzer. Most days, my face and my neck are two different colors. I think its cool to look orange sometimes.
My mom wears make up every day.
I am a pretty casual person and unless I am at work, I tend to be in soccer shorts and a t-shirt. If we go out to dinner, P practically had to bribe me to put jeans on. Forget getting me in make up or out of the t-shirt.
