Body attack

A few Friday's ago, I hit up the gym after work. I didn't want to run because I was doing a long run on Saturday, so I started out on the elliptical, and after about 3 minutes I was bored out of my mind. I decided to try a class that was about to start called Body Attack, because I wanted to get my heart rate up and have so e fun in the process.

The class description was a bit vague, but I decided to try it out anyways. This was a big step for me because I am pretty hesitant to try new things and hardly every try new experiences by myself.

The class was a mix of 90's style exercises, (think lots of bouncing side to side, high knees, butt kicks) but my heart rate was wayyyyyy up, and I was sweating like a beast. There were some choreographed moves that I could not keep up with, and during the early part of the class I held back and told myself I looked so dumb, and felt like a douche. Yes, I know that's a horrible word but I felt so dumb and considered walking out. But, I decided to give the class a few more minutes and keep trying. As I looked around everyone else was having a great time bouncing, hopping, throwing there hands in the air and I was in the back with a sour face.

At that moment I decided to let go of my inhibitions and just have fun with it, even if I screwed up. The next thing I know, I am drenched in sweat, panting, and having a ball. It was an hour that took me out of my comfort zone, and away from my usual workouts. It was awesome!

Taking this class was a big stretch for me, and it has been great. I have gonea few more times, and after each class, I am exhausted, sweaty, and happy!

Have you changed your workouts recently? Have you tried anything new? How did that work out for you?

I am certainly not the class type. I'd be too embarassed. But I've recently added bike riding to my activities. Note that I never learned how to ride a bike, so making a fool out of mysely in a neighborhood fool of kiddos that can probably ride with their eyes closed MUST be somewhat close to going to public classes. I'm doing better, albeit slowly. I am pretty proud of myself for trying.

I think its totally awesome that you stepped out of your comfort zone and pushed yourself. Good for you! BodyAttack is an amazing class! The choreography is quite daunting at first, but over time you'll notice that while there are slight variations to the moves, it remains relatively consistent. It is not an easy class to do, but once you get into it, it is such a great workout that leaves you drenched in sweat. I say this because I'm a BodyAttack instructor. :D

For me I enjoy classes more, because of the group atmosphere. I know I'll definitely work harder if someone is yelling at me to go harder and other people around me are working hard. I find its so easy slack off when you're working out on your own.
