I just could not help myself

A few weeks ago I wrote a guest post for Leslie over at The Dream Tree and I wrote all about how much I adore Pinterest, but how everything I have ever seen and tried from Pinterest has been an epic failure. I swore that I was not going to try anything I saw from Pinterest, I refused to partake in any crafts or cook anything that I saw.

Alas, I am a liar, I got my Pinterest all kind of on this weekend. And, to make matters worse, everything I tried turned out great. Crap.

I told P that I was getting in touch with my creative side. He responded by saying "I think you are just now developing a creative side." My type A personality that likes everything at right angles, and nothing to be messy hates this. When you do crafts, which I normally call "arts and craps," you have left over parts and pieces, and I guess you are supposed to save them and turn them into another crap, I mean craft. But, I am not going to focus on that right now, I am going to focus on the fact that I did some Pinterest activities that turned out great!

Have you tried anything that you saw on Pinterest that turned out well?

Sunday Evening

Sunday evening. Cold, beautiful, peaceful. No real need for words tonight.

" I would rather be shut up in a very modest cottage, with my books, my family, and a few old friends, dining on simple bacon, and letting the world roll on as it liked, than to occupy the most splendid post which any human power can give."

The great outdoors

Today P and I went down to the river to kayak. We did not get to go for very long because it started raining but it was so much fun. It has been almost a year since I have been out on the river kayaking. It was so peaceful and beautiful out there. I think part of the reason that I like the outdoors so much is because when I stop and soak it all in and enjoy it, I am reminded of the one who created it. I realize how big God is and how small I really am. I realize that he has a master plan and I am blessed to be apart of his work. He creates things that are so much more amazing than anything I could ever create.
As I sit here it is raining outside and the temp. has dropped about 10 degrees. I know we need the rain but I don't really like it. For some reason the rain always seems sad to me. I like sunshine. I like bright and airy. I like to be able to go outside and run or go to the park and go on a hike. You can't do those things when it rains. But, I realize that the rain is needed, and it does bring some peace and quiet. I am sitting here with the t.v. off, looking out the window at the rain, and listening to my dog snore like an 80 year old lumber jack. It is making me laugh so hard. I will post some pictures of the big guy this week.
Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

From my eyes

Here are a few images of the things I see at my house everyday. They are in no particular order, just a random hodge-podge of pictures. Enjoy!

This is the sign that I see when I wake up in the morning. It is above the door in our bedroom.

The sign I bought during college when I finally realized that I wanted the simple life. This sign has hung some where in every home I have lived in for the past 5 years, plus it is the inspiration for my blog title.

The pantry in our kitchen. I really like the exposed brick, I think it is beautiful.

The swing P bought for me as a wedding present. It is a great spot for sitting outside and reading after a long day. I will blog about this swing sometime. It means alot to me.

The garden. It is blooming!

The view from the back of the house.

The view I see as I wash the dishes.
Thanks for visiting my house.

Water

I am a water girl. Be it a pool, river, lake, or beach, I am at home in the water. For me, there is nothing better than playing in the water with the sun shining bright. I think one of the most relaxing things in the world is to sit at the edge of the water and read a good book. Unfortunately, for the past few days it has been cold and raining here so I have not been able to get outside much. But, today I was driving to the gym and I stopped to take some pictures of the river. It looked so beautiful and I wanted to share it with everyone. I know the pictures are not the best, but they are the best I could do with the camera I have. (I crave a major camera with a serious lens, but it is not in the budget so I have to make due.)
In the summer the river is over run with tourist from all over the country coming to enjoy the beauty of the 2 rivers in our town. While I like the summer, it gets crazy here during the summer months, so it is so nice to enjoy the peace of the rivers in the off season.
I just wish it was warm and sunny this week to enjoy it, but we have been in a terrible drought so the rain is seriously needed. Plus it will be good for the garden.

Spring is here

Spring has come to Texas and I am so excited. ( I know not officially, but we are a little earlier than the rest of the country) With the time change, that means more time to go outside and have fun. Spring means disc golf in the park, or running next to the river, or just sitting on the patio reading after dinner. Warm days, cool nights, and lots of sunshine make me a happy girl.
Sometimes I ask myself why I enjoy the spring, and the summer, and the reason I have come up with is that it is a time of renewal. Everything comes back to life again. It is as if everything is emerging from a long sleep. Spring and summer mean long days swimming and playing. It means a break from getting up early. It means staying up late and sleeping in. (Ok for me staying up late is 10pm, and sleeping in is 730). But it is a chance to slow down, stop and soak up some of the best things that life has to offer.
Plus, some of the very best things that have happened to me happened in the spring and summer. I met my husband in the summer, I was a spring time bride, and I get 3 whole months off of work in the summer! It is the best time of year. I am so ready to soak up the sun and the beauty of the earth this spring.
This is the most wonderful time of the year.
