Goal time

Now that marathon season is over, I am finding that I need a new goal. These past few months without a goal I have found myself floundering when it comes to my running. My runs have been slower, shorter, and a bunch of junk miles. Nothing great, nothing to hard, and rarely pushing myself. Times need to change my friends.

One of my goals for this year is to PR in a 5K. I PR'ed in the half marathon distance earlier this year, and now I am ready to go for my speed goal. My goal into run a 5K later this summer in 23:00 or under. That will put me a little over a 7:30 mile, but I know that if I work hard I can do it. To be honest, this distance really scares me. I can run for miles at a nice and slow clip, and I am fine. I can do sprints all day long. As long as I can see the finish line and get a breather for a few seconds, I am good. This 5K distance is fun, but I am really wanting to put pressure on myself to PR. If I am being honest, I really want to finish in 21:00 minutes, but I am not sure if I can get to that pace this summer. But, I am going to bust my hump and try.

I am going to use Hal Higdon's advanced 5k training plan. That means lots of speed work, and lots of pain. It has one long run a week, but only one. This plan kind of scares me because I am worried about losing my fitness that comes with high mileage. I know it will be a major pain in the rump to get it back, but I know that establishing a faster base, it will benefit me in the long run to get a sub 4 hour marathon. Aww gripes, yes I just declared that there will be another marathon either late this year or early next year.

What fitness goals are you working to right now?

Body attack

A few Friday's ago, I hit up the gym after work. I didn't want to run because I was doing a long run on Saturday, so I started out on the elliptical, and after about 3 minutes I was bored out of my mind. I decided to try a class that was about to start called Body Attack, because I wanted to get my heart rate up and have so e fun in the process.

The class description was a bit vague, but I decided to try it out anyways. This was a big step for me because I am pretty hesitant to try new things and hardly every try new experiences by myself.

The class was a mix of 90's style exercises, (think lots of bouncing side to side, high knees, butt kicks) but my heart rate was wayyyyyy up, and I was sweating like a beast. There were some choreographed moves that I could not keep up with, and during the early part of the class I held back and told myself I looked so dumb, and felt like a douche. Yes, I know that's a horrible word but I felt so dumb and considered walking out. But, I decided to give the class a few more minutes and keep trying. As I looked around everyone else was having a great time bouncing, hopping, throwing there hands in the air and I was in the back with a sour face.

At that moment I decided to let go of my inhibitions and just have fun with it, even if I screwed up. The next thing I know, I am drenched in sweat, panting, and having a ball. It was an hour that took me out of my comfort zone, and away from my usual workouts. It was awesome!

Taking this class was a big stretch for me, and it has been great. I have gonea few more times, and after each class, I am exhausted, sweaty, and happy!

Have you changed your workouts recently? Have you tried anything new? How did that work out for you?

The Make Up Question

I have a question for all of you chicka's. Do you wear make up on a daily basis?
The reason that I ask is because I truly don't know. I wear make up to work, and that is pretty much the only time I wear it, unless we have a big event on the weekend.
The make up that I wear is pretty minimal. I use bare minerals and I only know how to do the basics. I don't line my eyes, or lips (do people still do that)? I wear bronzer and probably more blush than any respectable woman should in the day time. What can I say, I like really rosy cheeks. I also wear to much bronzer. Most days, my face and my neck are two different colors. I think its cool to look orange sometimes.
My mom wears make up every day.
I am a pretty casual person and unless I am at work, I tend to be in soccer shorts and a t-shirt. If we go out to dinner, P practically had to bribe me to put jeans on. Forget getting me in make up or out of the t-shirt.
What about you? Do you wear make up every day? Do you get dressed up on the weekends? Let me know.

Waking up with class

A few Saturday's ago, P had the opportunity to sleep in! While he slept, I piddled around the house and did some of my stuff. When I walked into the bedroom this is what I saw. And for the record, this happens almost daily.
